Abstract


            The aim is try to understand the injury that’s very common in all sportsmen principally in athletes. This study will describe an injury called periostitis. The periostitis is an injury that involvethe periosteum, which is characterized by painful inflammation of the front surface of the bone. The periosteum is a membrane that covers the large bones like femur, tibia and fibula, except the joint parts. Another characteristic is that contains all the blood vessels that are the responsible to avascular and nourish the bone. This document explains especially Tibial periostitis or normally called Shin Splints and generally it occurs in the lower leg can reach up to knee. This painful injury is almost always caused by the impact that causes the foot when it hits the floor.

The purpose of this research was to find who and how to treat the injury, especially by the physical therapist, and the treatment for this injury is very simple, it consists mainly in stretching the leg and not let the patient makes activity or sports for a period of time.
This study investigated five hundred people and it found that two in every five sportsmen had this injury at least once in their life and it occurs preferably to people who run long races.
Conclusions
The periostitis is a very common injury that affects the sportsmen, especially the athletes who run long races.
The physical therapist can treat this pain and also prescribe rest.

Periostitis



The periostitis is an injury that involve obviously, the periosteum, which is characterized by painful inflammation of the ventral surfaceof the leg. Tibial periostitis is the most common and generally occurs in the lower leg can reach up to knee. It can be caused by excessive physical activity and  precisly of this is that im going to talking about.

The periostium  is a membrane that lines the outer surface of all bones except at the joints of long bones like femur , tibia, and fibula of the legs, the humerous, radius, and the ulna of the arms.

Myself

Hello! I am Sebastián Orlando Hernández Rodríguez, I was born in Santiago, Chile, and obviously, I am Chilean. I am 18 years old, I live in Huechuraba with my parents, my sister Daniela and my dog. I love to play tennis, and sometimes i play football but just for enjoy. I play tennis since 1999 but I started to train harder when i was 13, in the Federación de Tenis de Chile, in Salesianos.
Now, I am studying Kinesiology in the Universidad de Chile, but a kinesiologyst in countries where people speak English, or in the most of the European continent study the movements, so in these countries I would be stuyding Physical Therapy.
When I was young a went to the Jardín Loreto in Cerrillos, in the same commune that i lived, and when a grew up a little, i went to school to Sagrados Corazones de Alameda. There, i met the most of my friends, my girlfriend, and also learn too much, if i went to the past, i would never change my school, it was one of the greates decisions of my parents, and it was because my father studied there too.
I am very happy to study here, in Universidad de Chile, but the best of this, is that the classmates make me the university a nice place to spend the 5 next years.
